Gametime has passed as the main server was still running even while others were not. Certain updates will have taken place but other will not. Pirates, battle, and abr were all down and ABR will remain down for several more hours. This means that pirate battles will not properly resolve unless there is a player in the battle as well. ABR will kick back in a few hours and AI is currently up and running.

First and foremost, we shut the site down while we could verify every line of code and ensure that the weakness did not exist on other web pages. In all, some 1615 lines of code were altered to use a new function we created to make sure there could be no recurrance of this kind of hack.
Secondly, we restored a backup from about 10 days ago and updated everyones password to the saved values. Accounts created since then will still have blank passwords. If your account is relatively new, you may have a blank password and you should set a new one immediately upon logging in. You can set a new password on the Empire Settings page. PLEASE NOTE the ONLY information restored from the backup was password information. There was no general roll-back. No nevtime was missed, skipped, or reversed. Again, only password information was restored.
Its worth mentioning here that the system has not been compromised. The only damage was that all passwords were deleted. No one ever had access to your old password and there is no urgent need to change it. We always recommend you change passwords periodically (as you should on any website) but there is no pressing need to change your old passwords here because no one had access to them.
Many empires were logged into while there were no passwords. As always, we have a full log of every login to Neveron. If someone logged into your empire inappropriately we will know, we have their IP address, and we can trace everything they did. If someone logged into your empire and spent your money, deleted your buildings, scrapped your units, attacked your allies, or did ANYTHING at all, we have logs and we will find them and punish them. If you are absolutely certain that someone accessed your empire and caused serious harm last night, please send a help ticket (bug report category) with the topic of DAMAGE REPORT (all caps) describing exactly what damage was done. We can and will check for who was logged in at the time and if it was someone who had never accessed that empire before, we will do what we can to find them and punish them. DO NOT send a report if you are unsure if your empire was accessed or if there was no major damage caused. I am sure we are going to be flooded by requests and information and it will be extremely time consuming and difficult to spend enough time on every case to reach a satisfactory conclusion. We will be focusing on major events and major losses where it is overwhelmingly evident that someone accessed the empire who shouldn't have, and caused major harm. I will be giving DAMAGE REPORT bug tickets top priority this coming week and hope to respond to them all by friday at the latest. Again, if you were hurt, send a report, but please please PLEASE don't waste our time with "maybe something happened" or "can you please check if" or the like. There is only one of me working on this and I'm sure I will be innundated with serious problems and don't need to waste my time chasing insignificant problems.
If you can't remember your old password please do everything you can to find it. Talk to anyone else that had it at the time, try everything you can think of, and even sleep on it. Maybe you'll remember tomorrow, or you'll remember that you had given it to your friend, or anything. If you still can't come up with it 24 hours later go ahead and send in a DAMAGE REPORT ticket and I'll set a new password and email it to the address on the account.
I have not had time to check who caused the problem. Due to the nature of the event, it is likely that we will never know. Regardless, the people that took advantage of the situation and exploited the problem will be dealt with very severely and I expect many empire deletions and permanent bans from the game to be forthcoming over the course of the next week.
BUGS. Adding several new blocks of code and editing over 1600 lines are likely to introduce some new bugs and render some features unusable tonight. We've tested everything to an extent, but obviously with the complexity of the game we can't reasonably check everything. If there are page errors they will be logged. Please don't send bug reports about page errors for the next 24 hours at least. We'll be monitoring the logs and working on them as fast as possible. Again, there is only one person here working on technical stuff and I can only be doing one thing at a time. Please be patient.
IMPORTANT! If for some reason by moving the passwords back 10 days you gain access to an empire you shouldn't have access to, or if for ANY reason you still have access to an empire you should not have access to, please be aware that causing any harm to that empire can and most likely will result in your permanent banning from the game and a deletion of all your empires. We have to take this very seriously, and we do.
Finally, I apologize for having to take the game down all day. Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this problem, and with the upcoming agonizing week of recreating who did what when they shouldn't have. Also, thanks to those people who helped me out today. Several people recognized the problem soon after it happened, and already had suggestions and information ready for me when I got here to start working on it. Both xcoyote and b0lt from chat were particularly helpful in identifying the problem.
