  • Much thanks to Shadowmaster for his updates and what not these past couple months.
  • Donation Subscriptions: Active subscriptions from this month have been processed. I realize that there are many that are behind. Make sure you have ONE and only ONE recent ticket open about your subscription with "DP" in the subject and I will get to it as soon as I can (this week).
  • Kicked the training program back into action after an error and you should see all the results from any battles/training you've had or done.
  • Arena sim reported as down but appears to be working ok to me. Please report further problems.
  • Fixed a long standing but overlooked error with heat sinks being partially repaired.

    5/11/2009

  • Help Ticket Delays: Due to some Admin vacation time we will be seeing a delay in help ticket responses over the next 10-12 days. Please be patient and we will get to all your tickets as soon as we can.
  • Tech Hiring: Techs are hired for a 1 year contract. Setting a hiring price for techs simply puts in your bid and it will be accepted once all the other available techs have taken better jobs. If you want techs quicker then offer more money. You can offer 1 billion but if there are no available techs you will not hire any until someone has a contract expire.
  • Log Errors in Destroyed Units: I am sure I have said this a couple times before but these errors are NOT the result of a serious problem. It simply means the information was not available at the time. This may have been because of a double kill or a few other scenarios. It is simply a LOGGING error, not a problem with how the unit was destroyed. Do NOT open tickets about them unless there was actually a problem when the unit was destroyed.
  • Corrected the Tech Complex page under the Research tab to properly read 108 workers, not 1080 workers.

    7/28/04

  • The Cyclops-Z now has it's AC-20 ammo in its right torso.
  • Restarted pirates which had stopped.
  • Corrected another bug with logging stated below. Sorry for the problems. (If you got units with negative armor in battle this was the cause.)
  • Added gametime logging to the destroyed units logs in further movement towards changing everything in the game to strict Nevtime records. Over the next couple months we will be adding gametime logs to nearly everything that needs one so that everything will be displayed in gametime. This caused a few errors for the first 3-4 minutes when it was put in but has been corrected. The destroyed units log will be moved over to gametime in a couple weeks once enough logging has been established in that format.
  • Added some code that should log the empire that was involved when your unit was destroyed by something other than direct fire.
  • Added some code to make ammo explosions from heat show as such on the destroyed units list. Will only work on units destroyed after this change.
  • Added a bunch of consistancy code to various arena pages to ensure that all proper session variables are set (to ensure proper logging) and also added a check that should eliminate 99.99% of instant arena wins. This is all laying groundwork for more reliable arenas but also for long-awaited battle message changes that will allow battles to be reviewed afterwards by both players and admins for fun and debugging.
  • Added auto-correcting code to the Tower Queue page that removes unbuilt towers from your empire that were not constructed properly and are unrecoverable. If you have a problem with 'ghost' units in a zone, please check the Tower Queue.
  • The completed research page is now accessible on the pop-up menus and has been made into two columns to prevent excessive scrolling.

    7/27/04

  • Corrected the have/has typo on the troops page.
  • Empires without factions may now send money but may not receive it. You still must be level 3 or higher.

    7/26/04

  • New Feature: You may now use Treasure Points 5 at a time if you have them.
  • Corrected some inconsistancies between various production checking pages. Some were using some old code that had some flaws and others were not properly counting vehicles you had produced so that they would count half towards market caps. This has all been corrected.
  • Downtime: Neveron was down from about 06:00 until 13:00 Sunday because of a power outage caused by seasonal monsoons that occur here in the southwest. We have battery backups on which critical game servers run and more were ordered last week. In the past these have prevented interuptions of game service and last season there were no downtimes at all because of power problems. Our battery backups were insufficient to sustain the servers running for the duration of the outage this morning though, which was for about 6 hours. The new battery backups will arrive this week and should prolong our defense against power problems but there is little we can do when such long outages occur.

Gametime has passed as the main server was still running even while others were not. Certain updates will have taken place but other will not. Pirates, battle, and abr were all down and ABR will remain down for several more hours. This means that pirate battles will not properly resolve unless there is a player in the battle as well. ABR will kick back in a few hours and AI is currently up and running.

    7/25/04

  • Fixed a bug that was preventing production runs from being cancelled properly if there were products ready to be delivered. You had to click the cancel button twice. It will now properly deliver the products that are due and cancel the production in one run.
  • Several more adjustments were made today, concluding another week of cheater cleanup. Many of the empires that were fined were finally deleted, while other fines were partially recinded. Some bans were removed, some were not. The severity of the final judgements were determined by the degree to which the hack was exploited, and in even the most minor cases the offending empires were crippled financially.
  • The foreign aid page now lists empires with their abreviations first but without the brackets. This means you can easily search for a faction abreviation name with the keyboard instead of scrolling down. This should be much more conveniant.
  • Deleted some entries from the resources market from empires that had been deleted. Also updated procedures to ensure this does not happen any more.
  • Fixed a rare exception on the attack check page in battle.
  • New or changed passwords must have at least 1 character in them and be at least 5 characters long.
  • Some people are having issues with all-numeric passwords. If you have an all-numeric password please change it so that it has a character in it.

    7/23/04

  • Fixed a problem in the help system that was preventing people from submitting new articles.
  • NevCon: Canada! Less than 40 days until this exciting event hosted by Queltis and Co. up in Edminton. Both Randy and Wayward Son will be in attendance and there will be much food/drink/gaming/fun had by all. NevCons are a unique opportunity to meet allies and enemies in real life, make new friends, forge new alliances and just have a good time. There will be a raffle, a tabletop mech tournament, a presentation by the Neveron Admins and each attendant will receive the yet-to-be-unveiled NevCon 2004 mech! Please see the NevCon link on the Admin page for details and PLEASE REGISTER! This gives our gracious hosts better information on how to plan the gathering.
  • Empires with less than $0 may now participate in challenge arenas.
  • Surrender Change! You may now select your full restriction period, choosing from 3-15 days. Previously, your first surrender in a given month always had a 3 day full restriction period, the second one 6, third 12, and fourth 24 days. Now the full restrict period will always last the number of days you have your rate set at. You may change your rate at any time, but it will not affect current surrenders. That is, if you surrender while your restriction period is set to 9 days, and then a week later change it to 3 days, you will still be fully restricted until the recorded 9 days expire. Remember that the "full restriction" period is the time that no one may attack you, and you may not attack. The actual surrender still lasts 1 nevyear (you will still pay money for a nevyear, and still have limited restrictions for the full nevyear).
  • The Delete All Mail button on the Comms page now works properly.
  • Altered the critical status check on the vehicle readout page. It used to run specific checks to see if the unit was actually critted or not and flag it accordingly. Now it simply removes the crit status flag no matter if the unit is critted or not.
  • If an empire attacks an empire and then surrenders while that attack is underway they will no longer keep the zone if the battle is successful. Since they surrendered to the emnpire that was attacked, the zone will stay in the defender's hands and all surrendered units will be transported to the largest city of the surrendered attacker. (A attacks B and surrenders to B while the battle is still underway. A wins the battle but instead of getting a new zone the zone stays under B's control and A's units are sent home.)
  • Unit names are now limited at 45 characters. Names longer than that would typically give errors in unit creation so this limit will prevent those errors.
  • New empires will have their surrender rates set to 30% now, not 10%. Remember that anyone can change their surrender rate at any time in the war room, on the Wars page.
  • Mech combat change Mechs which have lost a leg fall. It is a known bug that AI may stand them up again, but for weapons fire purposes they will be treated as still prone (meaning they can only fire limited weapons). If a legless mech has also lost the use of an arm (including from torso destruction) then it is effectively worthless. It is unable to move about and may not fire any weapons.

    7/22/04

  • Fined a level 4 $100 million and deleted about 25 of his empires for violating the 5 empire rules. He was also using these empires to fix a Quest tournament.
  • Fined 5 empires 70 Nevdays of income for exploiting a bug they were aware that was happening that prevented their war target from actively defending themselves. The damage done was also reversed.
  • Fined an empire $50 million for swearing in public mail.
  • Deleted and banned a player for intentional and abusive language in public mail.
  • Fixed a bug that was not applying woods modifiers to IDF fire if you selected a target by clicking the icon in the target list instead of on the map.
  • Fixed a serious error joining war battles that was secondary to the arena improvements made last night.

    7/21/04

  • Arenas are back online with some improved logging. We will be building on this logging this week to help prevent some of the instant arena resolutions that have been occurring. Hopefully this will allow us to better monitor all arena activity, money spent, units sent, etc...
  • Only one of the tower creation programs has been running when we restarted everthing this morning and the 2nd one that handles 50% of the empires in the game was just restarted. This means there is a 30 hour backlog of towers that it is working through quickly. If you have towers that were scheduled to be built already please be patient and we are sure they will be completed in the next hour or two.
  • Changed a silly error message that was usually given when claiming an arena that I'm sure has made many a new player paranoid.
  • PIRATE CHANGE Pirates will no longer attack an empire twice in a 5 day span. Overall, the attack frequency has been slightly increased to maintain the same volume of attacks over a long-term period.
  • Fixed a recent issue with right-click errors when turning units on the battlefield.
  • CHANGE: Pirates and Surrender A change has been made in the program that checks for surrenders. Now, any cities in the hands of pirates will count as part of the appropriate pirated empire. For example, lets way you have 100k population and 100k BV. Due to massive negligence and/or lack of skill you let pirates capture 80k pop. That accounts for 40% of your total empire level, so previously you would surrender as soon as you lose a zone (or if you lost a zone in the past 3 days) unless your surrender rate was 50%. Now, that 80k pop controlled by pirates (actually 72k on average due to building destruction) counts toward your level, so in effect you have only lost 4% (the 8k building loss) and will not surrender.
  • Level 0's no longer have access to the ammo market.
  • Due to a shared file error many update programs (tower construction, troop movement, etc..) where not working properly in the last 24 hours or so. They have been corrected.
  • Fixed the buildings sublink on the main toolbar menu to properly perform buildings updates when selected.

    7/20/04

  • Again, thanks to those people who are writing help files. What we will do is award DP on a monthly (or less) basis for good articles in the database. That is, once a month or so, certainly less frequently in the future, we will peruse the help files and try to get rid of everything that is out of date or not very helpful. The remain files will all earn DP awards for whoever wrote them. If your article is so good that it stays in the database for years, it might earn DP every few months when we perform the cleaning/updating/awarding. The amount of DP per article is not yet determined. It may possibly be less than one (that is, you need several articles to get one DP) and it will probably be somehow related to content. A single very good article may be as valuable as dozens of shorter ones. The exact valuation is not determined but the idea is that people who write many excellent articles will receive moderate DP awards on an irregular basis more or less indefinately. Initial awards will likely be higher than future awards as we want to encourage people to populate the help books quickly.
  • The Finance pop-up menu now shows the Foreign Aid link for non-faction leaders.
  • A problem with ABR means that about 2/3 of the battles are an hour or so behind. It will probably catch up in the next 20 minutes.
  • Congratulations to Group W for completing research on the Flea mech! There are now 5 player produced mechs.
  • Fixed an error some people were getting on the Buildings page.
  • Removed the option of pushing backspace in battle to create double phases.
  • Added a proper error message to the Buildings page when you can not delete buildings due to being surrendered.
  • Fixed an error that was booting people from battle for about 10 minutes.
  • Fixed a bug that would allow you to see the enemy units list in battle when you weren't in battle.
  • Fixed a rare error when buying movement parts.
  • Pirate Mech Salvage: Because of ongoing problems with these units old units are having their unit id's updated to a new, positive number. This will take place any time you click on a unit with a negative unitid that is at rest. All tables associated with that unit will be updated to the new id. There is a chance that some very obscure data may not get updated. If you encounter problems please open a help ticket with the unit id and we will correct the problem.
  • There has been a bug fixed concerning landing craft. If you were unable to transport units by way of landing craft the problem has been fixed.

    7/19/04

  • 3 units that were in enemy zone in the Dueling Stable have been corrected.
  • Cheat/Hack Update At this point every instance that was reported in a DAMAGE REPORT ticket has been investigated. Many players have been banned from Neveron and many empires have been deleted, while others still have been handed crippling fines. Our intention is to delete many or all of the empires that are currently fined. Some actions were much more damaging than others and it is likely that we will not apply the same punishment to each case. It is likely that some of the fined empires will not be deleted, and some of the bans may be removed only if we feel that the specific actions of the players involved do not warrant permanent removal from the game. The initial reaction has been justifiably severe and upon closer examination may be deemed too reactionary. We will begin reviewing and finalizing penalties next week.
  • Removed one 10 billion fine when it was proven that the perpetrator was not the primary owner of the empire. Instead, the guilty party has had all 5 of his empires fined 10 billion including a well known larger empire.
  • Fined another empire $10 billion for abuses.
  • Banned 2 more IPs and fined a level 9 empire 10 billion pending deletion because of illegal logins during the null password episode last weekend.
  • Vehicle creation now properly looks for the best gunner/driver when a vehicle only has 1 crew member. Previously it was looking for the best driver regardless of weapon skills.
  • Fixed a sneaky little bug that was not setting some session variables correctly if the active person was in a unit with a negative unit id.
  • Because of associated problems that continued to plague the system, salvaged pirate mechs are now given positive unit id's when they are assigned a new pilot. This should correct some issues that people continued to have, and prevent a lot of work on our part in the future from having to correct for their negative unit ids.
  • Made an option to flag a mech as critically damaged so that it is eligible for instant repairs on the Donate page. Check the critical damage section near the bottom of the unit readout.
  • Password Bug Compensation: It is becoming increasingly clear that people are dissatisfied with our efforts to fix the damage caused by people who logged in and ruined empires last weekend. Fixing that damage has been the only thing that we've worked on for 6 days straight now, and there are still many empires waiting for anything to be done. It is incredibly time consuming, apparently moreso than many players can understand. In many cases we've determined its not worth the full day of work to put everything exactly back how it was and so we've given some nevcash or dp compensation which we feel is adequate to cover the damage. It is very likely that this is going to be the best we can do, at least for some time. Catching up on lost weeks of work because of the time we're spending on these problems will take weeks or even months to recover from, and the rest of the game is certainly suffering for it. We understand people might be frustrated with the outcome of our efforts to undo the damage and that is unfortunate, but there is only so much attention we can spend on each of several dozen individual situations when the game as a whole is demanding out attention. We hope you realize that the level of customer service you're getting for a free game is generally far above the norm and we don't want to sacrifice our efforts to everyone. In time, we will do the best we can to please everyone but there will always be a limit to what we can do.

    7/16/04

  • Neveron Downtime: Neveron was down for about 30 minutes this afternoon due to firewall problems. ABR was stopped soon after we were offline and will be back up in about an hour.
  • You can now ship uncomissioned vehicles to any zone.
  • Non-emperors now have their total money set as the default value on the money transfer page to help facilitate sending money easily to the emperor (such as after mech purchases and the like).
  • Fixed a problem that was preventing some new mech pilots from losing a skill point when entering a new mecht type.
  • Make that 4 good sized empires w/$10 billion less today. Its incredible how people thing they'll get away with this kind of stuff. If you guys really think you can log into other peoples empires when a bug like that happens and destroy it, you need to go find other games to play. We will NOT tolerate that kind of abuse in this game.
  • Handed out ANOTHER $10 billion fine to a well known empire for its abuses during the null password episode. It too will likely be deleted after all investigations are completed.
  • Found that ABR was not properly giving/taking morale for the capture/loss of zones. This has been corrected.
  • Banned another player and crippled his empires, pending deletion, for logging into someone elses empire during the null password episode and spending money, destroying units, etc.
  • Help Articles: Thank you to everyone who has written articles so far, approved or not. Your efforts are helping make the game much, much better for all. One thing that has been lacking so far are very basic articles for pretty much every topic. Ultimately there will be 2 levels of help for almost every topic. One will be the base information that someone would need to know to use and understand the basic functions that the articles cover. The second level is the down deep nitty-gritty highly detailed information on the topic that covers all the little rules and quirks.

    7/15/04

  • Fixed an error on the dead units list.
  • Claiming units in battle no longer required you to rename them making for much faster and easier claiming.
  • The emperor may now claim ANY unit regardless of who else has it claimed.
  • New Feature: The Emperor may now cancel production runs on the Factories page. Simply click the name of the product on the prodction run that you would like to cancel. Please make sure you do the right one as resources are NOT refunded. A check is run before they are cancelled to make sure that any products scheduled to be delivered by the time you cancel are delivered properly.
  • You can no longer unclaim zones that have production runs set to deliver to them.
  • Fixed a bug where faction leaders could send money to their faction members through the regular money transfer system. Faction leaders must use the faction transfer system to send money to their own faction.
  • Fixed patrols. They were inoperable because of some bug fixes that we implemented regarding transit. The errors have been corrected and you may now set patrols from the map page. Patrols disperse units from a city to zones around that city and are an excellent way of sending vehicles to a defensive perimiter around your cities.
  • Fixed a rare exception on the destroyed units list.
  • Added a count function to the Tower Construction Queue so you can see how many are waiting to be built and also reordered so the towers closest to completion are listed first.

    7/14/04

  • Fixed a problem with article ratings in the new help system. You may now rate each article for usefulness (once per player only).
  • MPOGD in June: A valiant effort was put in by all but we failed to hit the top 5 for any part of June and so no money was handed out. As was explained last month, money will only be given if we spend time in the top 5 list. Thank you to all who voted in support of us!
  • Added a reminder to the unit readout pages that sometimes damage is NOT repairable. This may occur both when it is initially damaged and after an attempted repair.
  • Fixed a problem with people logging in and receiving messages from battles not pertaining to their empires.
  • Deleted 3 more empires and banned another player for abusing the blank password issue last weekend. There are still about a dozen cases under investigation so expect more deletions and bannings to be forthcoming before this matter is closed. We also have traced the IP and exact time the perpetrator cleared the passwords, which has been proven beyond doubt was intentional. We are in contact with CableOne administration to get user information from that IP and time so that we can hand the case over to the authorities. Hacking is a federal crime and we always do everything we can to press charges against those who attack Neveron.
  • Added a check so that you could not change your empire name to blank.
  • The Vehicles only list on the Units page will now properly count the number of vehicles.
  • Fixed a problem with renaming empires, companies, and battalions where apostrophe characters were being doubled.
  • Fixed a problem with help tickets not accepting the apostrophe character.
  • Battle Messages Fixed a problem with in-battle messages not appearing unless players first exited and then re-entered the battle. They will now work correctly all the time without needing to reload the battle.
  • Cleaned out one of the battle tables that had about 100000 entries it shouldn't have had.
  • Help Tickets: Due to an admin vacation, the password problem from last week and the implementation of a new help information system the Bug ticket situation has fallen behing by about 10 days. We are catching up with these all week so if you have an open Bug ticket expect a reply soon. Thanks to everyone for their patience and support.
  • The War History section of the Empire Stats page now lists pirate and non-pirate stats seperately.
  • Deleted 30,518 people from the dead people list who were totally unskilled.
  • Deleted about 1100 people from the dead people list who weren't actually dead.
  • Repairing a tower now gives the option to return directly to the Towers Only list of the Units page.

    7/13/04

  • NEW HELP SYSTEM! There is a new help system that will pop up when you click the HELP tab in the top-right of the main Neveron empire page. There are not any articles yet, so don't go here for information right away. However you CAN submit articles. We're counting on filling the help books with primarily player-submitted articles. We haven't worked out a rewards system yet but it is very likely there will be DP awarded for what we judge as the best articles.

    7/12/04

  • So far 2 players have been banned and 56 empires have been deleted in conjunction with abuses during the blank password episode. There will very likely be more bans and deletions forthcoming during the next week. If you use a bug to cause harm to someone elses empire, and we find out, you will be penalized.
  • Fixed an issue with money not properly aggregating when reselecting your emperor character.
  • Fixed a problem with all-numeric login names not working. Similar to the all-numeric password problem from last night.
  • Fixed the same problem for TCs.
  • Fixed a problem with research tooling, related to the changes yesterday. I suspect there will be a lot of broken things that need fixing today and this week.

    7/11/04

  • update: there was a problem with all-numeric passwords that has been corrected. If you sent a bug ticket because your all-number password was not working please try again. If the problem is fixed, please close your bug tickets. Thanks!
  • MAJOR NEVERON TRAUMA There was a significant security hole in the Neveron system that was brought to our attention last night when someone passed our servers a rather insidious page request. This had the effect of blanking out everyones passwords. While in and of itself this is by no means fatal, there is some very serious fallout.

First and foremost, we shut the site down while we could verify every line of code and ensure that the weakness did not exist on other web pages. In all, some 1615 lines of code were altered to use a new function we created to make sure there could be no recurrance of this kind of hack.

Secondly, we restored a backup from about 10 days ago and updated everyones password to the saved values. Accounts created since then will still have blank passwords. If your account is relatively new, you may have a blank password and you should set a new one immediately upon logging in. You can set a new password on the Empire Settings page. PLEASE NOTE the ONLY information restored from the backup was password information. There was no general roll-back. No nevtime was missed, skipped, or reversed. Again, only password information was restored.

Its worth mentioning here that the system has not been compromised. The only damage was that all passwords were deleted. No one ever had access to your old password and there is no urgent need to change it. We always recommend you change passwords periodically (as you should on any website) but there is no pressing need to change your old passwords here because no one had access to them.

Many empires were logged into while there were no passwords. As always, we have a full log of every login to Neveron. If someone logged into your empire inappropriately we will know, we have their IP address, and we can trace everything they did. If someone logged into your empire and spent your money, deleted your buildings, scrapped your units, attacked your allies, or did ANYTHING at all, we have logs and we will find them and punish them. If you are absolutely certain that someone accessed your empire and caused serious harm last night, please send a help ticket (bug report category) with the topic of DAMAGE REPORT (all caps) describing exactly what damage was done. We can and will check for who was logged in at the time and if it was someone who had never accessed that empire before, we will do what we can to find them and punish them. DO NOT send a report if you are unsure if your empire was accessed or if there was no major damage caused. I am sure we are going to be flooded by requests and information and it will be extremely time consuming and difficult to spend enough time on every case to reach a satisfactory conclusion. We will be focusing on major events and major losses where it is overwhelmingly evident that someone accessed the empire who shouldn't have, and caused major harm. I will be giving DAMAGE REPORT bug tickets top priority this coming week and hope to respond to them all by friday at the latest. Again, if you were hurt, send a report, but please please PLEASE don't waste our time with "maybe something happened" or "can you please check if" or the like. There is only one of me working on this and I'm sure I will be innundated with serious problems and don't need to waste my time chasing insignificant problems.

If you can't remember your old password please do everything you can to find it. Talk to anyone else that had it at the time, try everything you can think of, and even sleep on it. Maybe you'll remember tomorrow, or you'll remember that you had given it to your friend, or anything. If you still can't come up with it 24 hours later go ahead and send in a DAMAGE REPORT ticket and I'll set a new password and email it to the address on the account.

I have not had time to check who caused the problem. Due to the nature of the event, it is likely that we will never know. Regardless, the people that took advantage of the situation and exploited the problem will be dealt with very severely and I expect many empire deletions and permanent bans from the game to be forthcoming over the course of the next week.

BUGS. Adding several new blocks of code and editing over 1600 lines are likely to introduce some new bugs and render some features unusable tonight. We've tested everything to an extent, but obviously with the complexity of the game we can't reasonably check everything. If there are page errors they will be logged. Please don't send bug reports about page errors for the next 24 hours at least. We'll be monitoring the logs and working on them as fast as possible. Again, there is only one person here working on technical stuff and I can only be doing one thing at a time. Please be patient.

IMPORTANT! If for some reason by moving the passwords back 10 days you gain access to an empire you shouldn't have access to, or if for ANY reason you still have access to an empire you should not have access to, please be aware that causing any harm to that empire can and most likely will result in your permanent banning from the game and a deletion of all your empires. We have to take this very seriously, and we do.

Finally, I apologize for having to take the game down all day. Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this problem, and with the upcoming agonizing week of recreating who did what when they shouldn't have. Also, thanks to those people who helped me out today. Several people recognized the problem soon after it happened, and already had suggestions and information ready for me when I got here to start working on it. Both xcoyote and b0lt from chat were particularly helpful in identifying the problem.

  • NYC Players, Wayward Son (Admin) will be at Le Figaro Cafe, 184 Bleecker St., NY, NY 10012 (212-677-1100) at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. 7/7/04
  • Afternet, the service we are using for our chat rooms, is temporarily shut down. We don't know any more than anyone else on when it will come back, I assume it won't be long but can't say with any certainty. In the meantime you can chat at any freenode.net server in the #neveron channel, such as orwell.freenode.net (port 6667).
  • Fined four low level empires each $1 billion (in other words, destroyed them) for extremely offensive nevmails that the owner sent from one of his empires. Don't think you can break rules in one place and we'll ignore your other empires. Any second offense will result in a permanent ban.
  • Infantry units carried in destroyed APCs will not automatically die. If the vehicle crew survives, the carried infantry unit will also survive.
  • Wayward Son (an admin) will be meeting Neveron players wednesday at 2:00 PM at Figaros in NYC. All are welcome. It is located between Bleeker and Sullivan in the Village

    7/6/04

  • Empires that have surrendered in the past nevyear can no longer delete buildings.

    7/5/04

  • Fixed another problem with pirate unit preplacement.

    7/3/04

  • You will no longer hire techs if you can't afford them.
  • Fixed a problem with vehicle skill improvements in battle. Vehicles were often getting skills far below that of any of their crew because of a bug, only to revert back to normal once viewed. This has been corrected.
  • Bug Tickets: Will be answered a bit more slowly due to Wayward Son being out of town for the next week. We apologise for any inconvenience.
  • Surrender Reminder: After an empire surrenders to you, you may not attack any zones that empire owned even if currently held by someone else. This is not a change, just a reminder. Now, in some cases you might launch an attack more or less right as an empire surrenders, but if one page runs faster than another, the empire may list as surrendering a second or two before you attacked. If that coincides with a gametime update the logs will record the attack as happening after the empire surrendered. This could prevent you from being able to retake the zone for up to one nevyear if someone takes it from you during that period because the game will recognize that the zone was owned by the guy who surrendered to you after he surrendered, thus being off-limits for you to take. This problem has been corrected, so you can ignore this now-meaningless explanation.
  • The tower construction log now has links to the specific unit readout for each completed tower accessable by clicking the unit name. Note that the tower construction LIST is that of towers still under construction and has links to the specs for the tower type.
  • Corrected the message for destroyed mechs from hot dropping to show in the proper cases.

    7/2/04

  • The Tower section of the People page has had the Status column (which was always "Constructing") with the completion date of the tower that it is going to be commanding. The date is also a link to the Tower Construction Queue.
  • Changing your surrender rate to a level that will cause you to automatically surrender will now give you a warning.
  • Sending parts now returns you to the proper subpage (mechs or vehicles) of the Movement section of the Parts page. This will be more conveniant for those shipping multiple parts.
  • Fixed a bug where factions with many empires higher level than their faction leader had available space for new members.
  • Fixed a bug with the pirate exemption for the top faction.
  • New Feature: You may now access a log of recently destroyed units (past nevyear) in your empire on the Troops section of the War Room or on the War Stats section of the Empire Stats page.
  • If a mech loses a location due to internal structure being reduced to zero, it loses all heat sinks (HS) in that location. If the mech takes further damage to that location it will NOT suffer additional HS crits. This is a change from previous effects -- a mech used to be able to lose undamaged HS that were disabled due to section destruction in effect losing the same HS twice.
  • Corrected some attack messages appearing twice on the war log.
  • Added some code that will better notify players when one of their mechs is destroyed during a hot drop.
  • New York City area players: Neveron Admin Wayward Son will be in the NYC area in the middle of next week (7/6 or 7/7) and is willing to meet some folks for cofee/lunch if people are interested. If you will be in the area and would like to make a meeting place please open a Bug Related help ticket with "NYC" in the subject.
  • Fixed a visual bug with changing military maintenance and also added the option to the Military Maintenance section of the Empire Stats page.
  • Money Transfer Clarification: Empires other than the faction leader currently CAN transfer over the limits. Money transfers and market sales are treated in exactly the same manner. You can send an unlimited amount of money but once an empire goes over their cap they start losing a percentage of it. You can send a level 5 $1 billion but they will only get at most $165 milion from the transfer. The ability to accept and deny money transfers so you can manage your caps better is coming very soon.
