  • Much thanks to Shadowmaster for his updates and what not these past couple months.
  • Donation Subscriptions: Active subscriptions from this month have been processed. I realize that there are many that are behind. Make sure you have ONE and only ONE recent ticket open about your subscription with "DP" in the subject and I will get to it as soon as I can (this week).
  • Kicked the training program back into action after an error and you should see all the results from any battles/training you've had or done.
  • Arena sim reported as down but appears to be working ok to me. Please report further problems.
  • Fixed a long standing but overlooked error with heat sinks being partially repaired.

    5/11/2009

  • New Mech! The GRF-DEST has been designed by the DEST faction and added to the game. You will find it available as a DP-only design valued at 85 DP.
  • Several changes were made to the DP value assigned various mechs. Some were raised while many were lowered. These changes are an effort to bring a little more balance to the relative DP values of the mechs.

    1/31/05

  • Donations: This is a reminder that if you want to split your Donation Points between 2 or more logins you DO NOT need to open multple Donation Profiles. You may add an unlimited number of logins to any Donation Profile with any amount of DP allotted to each one. Each time you send money it costs us certain amount in fees, so sending one donation to 3 logins instead of 3 donations to 3 logins ensures that more of your donation goes to Neveron. Thank you all for your support.
  • Quests will no longer allow damaged/critted units to be entered.
  • Lances may now be renamed ton include up to 45 characters.
  • Fixed a fundamentally flawed query on the movement section of the parts page that was giving the wrong minimum prices for some parts and was also very slow. The prices have been corrected and the query speeded up significantly.
  • Pirates no longer plunder parts, vehicles, weapons, etc..
  • Began logging morale changes during war.

    1/24/05

  • Fixed a bug where cockpit crits received the same attack that destroyed the entire head were counting as two kills for purposes of unit replacement in arenas.
  • Prize Change Arenas now start at a fixed prize, dependant on division. Over time the prize will decrease. From now on arenas yeild the best prizes when attacked immediately after creation, which will help reduce the agonizing wait between creating an arena and actually fighting someone.

    1/23/05

  • In the arena listings, the background color now gives an indication of the rank of the defender. Bighter shades of red represent better ranked defenders. So if you want to attack a high-ranked opponent to try to knock him out of the rankings (remember after 3 arena deaths your unit is gone forever) you can focus on hitting bright red arenas.
  • Fixed a problem with attacking arenas with negative-rep defenders.
  • New arena standings Finally the arena standings are very clear and simple to explain. Every time you win a duel, you gain 1000 points. Over time, everyones score gradually drops. So if you win a lot but don't fight for a week, you'll slowly fall down the standings and ultimately drop off. Any unit with a score under -1000 will automatically be removed from the standings, and if it duels in the future it will begin anew, with a 0-0 record.
  • There is now an initial prize for the arenas, and the rate of prize increase has been slowed. This will result in larger prizes for arenas attacked in under 40 minutes, and reduced prizes for those idle 40-60 minutes because being attacked, when compared to previous payouts.
  • The timeout period for unattacked arenas is now 1 hour, reduced from 2 hours. If you create an arena and no one enrolls after a full hour, the arena will automatically cancel. After 45 minutes, the "idle time" will be highlighted in bold red to draw attention to it.

    1/22/05

  • The research permission flag for secondary logins has been changed to include commissioning new buldings.
  • Cheating: We have deleted hundreds of empires in the past week, banned several IPs and fined many other empires. The biggest fine of $25 billion was just handed out to a level 8 for egregious money funneling. An estimated $8.5 billion was moved from about 30 smaller empires to a larger one through the marketplace. The 30 empires were deleted. This stuff is an extreme waste of our time and effort. When cheaters are verifiably caught they will be very harshly dealt with.
  • Fixed a grevious error with the arena maintenance program.

    1/21/05

  • Arenas unattacked for 2 hours will cancel.
  • NEW ARENAS Ok, here is a huge update on the new arena system. First, please keep in mind that it is NOT COMPLETED. Several intended features are not available yet, such as lance/company duels and a "death match" option. There are also additional measures we're going to have to take to ensure people can't easily cheat in them. There will be many changes, improvements, and upgrades in the next few days so please don't start complaining or sending bug reports; we're working on it!

Here is how it works. Its very similar to the previous "betting arenas" but with many notable changes. For example, you can create your own arena, using any unit you wish (up to 3000 BV). You create the terrain just as you would create a "dueling arena" previously, and you can place a bet on yourself too. This bet will generally set the tone for the betting phase which follows, and a high initial bet will often (not always!) ensure high bets all around. You can also enter a description of the arena if you wish to tell people what you have in there, or anything else you can think of.

Initially created arenas are listed as in ENROLLMENT. From creation until the first person applied to fight, the NGC Bonus Prize will start incrementing. Every minute it will go up, the rate of increase is tied to the arena division. Assault mech arenas will grow in prize value much faster than light vehicle arenas. Anyone can attack the arena at this point, with any unit that fits the bv and reputation range that will ensure a fair fight. When the first person enrolls a unit to attack, a 5 minute countdown begins. Other players can still enroll during that 5 minute period! Once the 5 minutes are up, a challenger is selected from among those who signed up and the duel enters the betting phase.

The betting phase is identical to the earlier betting arenas. 1 bet per empire. The betting phase lasts a variable length of time, depending on the size and frequency of bets. If larger and larger bets are being placed every minute, the betting phase may be extended quite a while! The betting phase will be a minimum of 5 minutes, and will rarely exceed 10-15 minutes, although if huge bets are being placed, it will wait.

The duel is fought normally (once it has begun, you have to claim your unit to enter battle remember!). You cannot forfeit or retreat anymore. However when you lose, you get 3 "lives." The first two losses result in a free replacement unit. If you lose a unit a third time, its really gone. After the duel bets are paid out and standings are adjusted. The standings are similar to the previous system. Those who duel at least once a day should generally see their rank improve, and it will improve rapidly for defeating people ranked above you. One notable difference is that if you attack an arena with a unit in a different division than the creator, your rank will not change. As the creator, your rank is always subject to adjustment depending on outcome, and same-division attackers will change too.

  • Placing towers randomly no longer auto-loads the whole map again. It instead loads the frame on the right with a link so that you can refresh the map if you choose, or continue using your presently loaded map to move troops, place more towers or whatever. This should save a lot on server load, bandwidth and hassle for players when placing towers randomly.
  • Added minimums and maximums to the resources market as well as a market cap. This will prevent BM's from being sold for $100 million if the market is sold out. Caps are $1 million or double the current market minimum for most resources. Minimums are 70% of current market low.

    1/20/05

  • Mine Reminder: Uncommissioned mines DO have a chance of expiring every day. Sitting on uncommissioned mines is not a very profitable idea.

    1/19/05

  • Major Betting Arena Change When you win a betting arena duel, your unit will be fully repaired for free. Also, when your unit is destroyed in a betting arena duel, you will now get a free replacement. You will only get a replacement twice, however, the third time your unit is lost it is final. However, when you are given a free replacement your crew/pilot skills will suffer. Each replacement adds +1/+1 to your applicable skills, making them worse. This is in addition to the skill loss if you forfeit!.

    1/18/05

  • Uncommissioned vehicles plundered in war has been changed to a 4/5 reduction in current stores to a 1/2 reduction. This means that if you plunder a zone with 20 Geckos you will now capture 10 of them instead of 4. The loser also loses morale.
  • Fixed the order of the zones list on the bottom of the vehicle armoury to properly display things alphabetically with unnamed zones coming last.
  • Mass Empire Creation: A number of people have taken to creating massive number of empires. We haven't been policing this of late but are beginning again. People with more than 5 empires are advised to abandon them ASAP before they find themselves with very stiff fines. A number of other players have been creating scores, even hundreds of junk empires. These players are being fined and/or banned. We delete any empires that are made with successive names (Munkhead1, Munkhead2, Munkhead3) or 'junk' names (asd, asdf, asdfg, asdfgh) and also look for related empires to fine. This is a serious waste of our time and so players found doing this are dealt with harshly.
  • Fixed a bug with disbanding lances/comps/batts.

    1/17/05

  • Fixed a bug where updating flagged zone data would change your primary salvage zone.

    1/15/05

  • Deleted many level 0 junk empires and fined empires for cheating based on this.
  • Fixed a visual bug where airlifts were being classified as a 'slow' movement and players were getting a warning when committing to them.
  • The Emperor can now disband lances/companies/battalions under any condition.
  • Fixed a problem with daychanges. They are being caught up currently.

    1/14/05

  • Fixed a bug involving shipping parts between zones.
  • Removed the number 1 ranked mech in the heavy mech betting arenas for throwing fights.
  • Arena Betting has been changed. The betting period will often be extended if substantial betting is still going on. While there is a substantial random element in the formula, the effect is that arenas where bets are still being made will stay open for betting somewhat longer.
  • The Her-2M now properly has its MG ammo in the left torso.
  • Updated the unit and formation move code to more correctly get lowest movement rate for overland movement.
  • Fixed a couple internal structure errors on mech types. The Fury had, incorrectly, 5 head internals instead of 4. The Hollander had, incorrectly, 16 (!!) leg internals instead of 8.
  • Fixed a bug where pilots were not losing reputation from losing a mech if the mech was salvaged, and likewise units were not gaining reputation from destroying a mech if the mech was salvaged.
  • Fixed a bug where if mech had one arm destroyed, and fired weapons in the other arm, it was still able to do a 1-arm punch.
  • Fixed a bug that was only showing the swithc zone button on the vehicle armoury if you had an unnamed zone with uncommissined vehicles in it.
  • Tsunami Relief: A donation in the amount of $409 was made today for Tsunami relief based on DP used between Friday and Monday as per the update last Friday.

    1/13/05

  • Deleted a bunch of bugged mechs that had been improperly destroyed. While most were pirate mechs, 9 were player mechs.
  • Fixed some buggy stuff with unit renaming. You are advised to NOT put quotes in your unit names. QUOTES = EVIL!!!
  • Changed Lance name limits to 45 characters.
  • Resolved an ABR error that was freezing some pirate battles and causing unusual pirate behaviors. It may take another hour or so for the program to "catch up" and resolve these problems.
  • Removed a primary key from the unit transit waiting table to avoid PK errors.
  • AWS-8T's no longer have usable hands.
  • Fixed a bug where some newre mech limbs where not showing on the limbs section of the parts page.
  • You can now remove mechs from the marketplace via the My Items page.
  • Added a check to the button on the mechs page that flags the unit as CRITICAL.
  • Added a link to the OMT calculator page on the Miltary Maintenance section of the Finance page. This page needs updating so please do not write in any help tickets about it, we are working on it. People should not be passing info through URL's to access pages. If there are other commonly used pages that don't have links to them please open a help ticket.
  • Resouce plunder is now limited to 1 time per 30 Nevdays.the
  • Put the select zone feature back on the vehicle market.
  • Fixed a bug selling infantry weapons.
  • Fixed a very rare bug that was not allowing larger empires to declare wars on smaller empires when the smaller empires had attacked first.
  • Large Credit Card Donations: The problem that had been limiting credit card transactions to $500 via the instant processing option has been corrected. You can now process up to $1,000 donation instantly via credit card on our site. Thank you to everyone for their patience and support.

    1/12/05

  • The vehicle armoury now lists vehicles in alphabetical order by the sell/move drop down lists and lists zones alphabetically in the select new zone list.
  • The factory breakeven page is now listed alphabetically to match the production page.
  • Buying movement parts now redirect to the proper market subpage.
  • Selling movement parts now redirects to the proper sub page (mech or vehicle parts) of the Parts page.
  • Added a new login attribute for non-emperor logins, that grants permission to duel any unit. This will only apply to the new arenas, which are coming soon.
  • The infantry armoury now excludes items that are on hold from minimum prices.
  • You can now change your salvage zone without having to unflag and reflag it.
  • Fixed an error with updating flagged zones info related to the salvage zone change.

    1/11/05

  • Cleaned up the untooled research list a bit and put it on a normal page with active links for ease of use.
  • New Feature: Clicking the research topic on the Research page now sends you to a list of zones in which you have facilities that are researching that item. This is a very handy feature for finding specific facilities in empires with research facs spread out all over.
  • New Arena System Proposed! View description HERE.
  • War Log Changes: Pirates are being recorded in a different log to substantially speed up the loading of the war log, which was consistantly creating the most lag in the game. The pirates war list will be updated to show these attacks shortly. You are still notified when a faction member is attacked and can still attempt to BP via the Battles page. Also automated the truncation of the war log so that it will stay nice and fast.
  • Wooot!! The rest of the Collect Parts features have been coded to the Parts pages. Next step: recycling parts!
  • New Feature! You may now designate any one zone as your "primary salvage zone." This is done on the New Flags page, in land/buildings. If you want to so designate a zone you have already flagged you must remove the old flag first, then reflag it appropriately. Right now there is only one advantage to having a zone flagged as a primary salvage zone. Namely, that scapped mechs will have their parts arrive in said zone. This is advantageous because of a change that allows mechs in your dueling stable to be scrapped, with their parts arriving in the primary salvage zone.
  • You may no longer scrap a mech that has been in battle in the past 30 minutes. This prevents people from getting the salvage from a doomed mech automatically transported to their primary salvage zone by scrapping it immediately upon retreating it from battle.
  • Improved the database structure to drastically improve load times on several pages such as the default land/buildings page, the new flags page, and several others.
  • To reduce substantial lag, particularly in larger empires, the "new flags" page now only shows zones with buildings instead of every zone. Remember you can still flag any zone, even those without buildings, from the map.
  • Added the ability for non-emperor logins with the "may move all units" permission to flag zones, and remove zone flags, to assist in moving troops.
  • Allowed non-emperor logins with the "commission/sell equipment" permission to create infantry platoons and sell infantry weapons. Such logins may also accept volunteers.
  • Cleaned up the infantry armory page to prevent the need for horizontal scrolling.
  • Corrected the minimum market prices on vehicles, as shown on the vehicle armory, to not display prices for items placed on hold by sellers.
  • Sped up the login process and accordingly reduced system-wide lag.

    1/10/05

  • New Feature! Added the option of hot-dropping on enemy zones adjacent to your own.
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes hot-drop attacks were showing attack information for zone 0,0.
  • Renamed the hunter tank variants to simply "Hunter Light Tank" because the old names were so long they were making some vehicle lists run off the side of the page.
  • Added functionality to the login attribute of "sell vehicles" for non-emperor logins. It is now "sell/commission" and logins with this attribute set are allowed to commission new vehicle units.
  • Cleaned up the vehicle armoury removing reference to ZCOs and other inaccurate or irrelevant text.
  • Unit / Person status will now show "Enrolled" for units enrolled in a betting arena.

    1/9/05

  • December War Rating Champion! Clan Onyx Manta, level 3, was awarded the 200 DP prize for the month of december for scoring the most points of an empire at his level. Good luck to everyone in january.
  • Major IDF Change: IDF weapons have had their effectiveness reduced against moving targets. All modifiers for target movement are doubled for IDF weapons. To balance this, the blanket penalty for IDF to-hit has been reduced from +2 to +1. This reflects the difficulty in hitting a fast moving target with an indirect-fire weapon while increasing general effectiveness against stationary targets.
  • Pirate attack logging: changes are being made to pirate attack logging which, believe it or not, will speed up the game immeasurably. Be aware that pirate attacks may not be logging properly for a few days while the system is switched.
  • NevCon: United Kingdom!! That's right! Randy and Wayward Son will be making the trek to Leeds, England for the first official NevCon in the UK. The party will take place Saturday, February 19th at a yet-to-be-disclosed location, but I am told it is a very nice hotel. There will be games, raffles, door prizes and the unveiling of the 2005 Convention Mech. Please stay tuned for details and contact Peel and/or Mattbuck and/or Skyly in chat for details and questions.
  • Renaming units now puts the original name in the input box so you can easily make corrections.
  • Enabling AI in Battle: This now drops the unit's button from your personbar. This is intentional! We know the other way was more conveniant but it had to be done to reduce lag. We are working on a lag-free way to return to that system.
  • Began adding some clearer seperations between discounted and normal market items on some of the marketplaces. This will be phased in on all markets.
  • When surrendered empire return land to the empires that they surrendered to the cities and zones in question now give/take the proper morale. They were previously only returning the zones, and morale was not awarded or deducted.

    1/8/05

  • Tsunami Relief: Neveron will sending a check to a Tsunami Relief organization next Monday at noon. The check will be for $200. From now until Monday at 12 PM Arizona time we will add $1 to the check for every 10 Donation Points used in Neveron. We will begin counting at 5 PM today. Thank you to all who have given your support to Neveron, and especially to those who have already given out of their own pockets to help those in need in Asia.
  • The attack option page now lists how many units from each group (lance, company, battalion) will be attacking. This will help you know what is attacking and catch units that are not out of transit yet or perhaps are not mobilized.
  • Lance, Company and Battalion details now show the transit move rate of that particular group. This will prevent people from accidentally sending huge groups of units into transit at a slower than desired rate and also help people find movement critted units.
  • Fixed a bug that some people were having when trying to change their surrender rates.

    1/7/05

  • Daychanges: Fixed a problem with the daychange process created during our DB maintenance. Daychanges were accelerated to make up the difference.
  • Due to changes made yesterday the speed of the war log and faction war log has improved by a large amount. We are about 1/6 done with this database project and when complete should reap similar rewards on other pages and gamewide.
  • Fixed a problem with the new war log that was created when a certain Admin whose name begins with the letter Randy dropped an important table from the database. This should be working properly now.

    1/6/05

  • MPOGD: Thank everyone again for a great month in December. Money has been handed out to all level 1+ empires. Happy New Year!
  • DB Performance Update: Did about 1 hour of work on the database, mostly removing and/or archiving obsolete data. This will both reduce the size of the database and speed up queries using those tables. Currently our largest source of lag is when we create a database backup, so we are being very thorough about removing obsolete logs and information. This is fairly large project and will be done in parts over the rest of the week. It should only require 1 or 2 hours of downtime, which we will schedule in advance so people know wen it will be happening. Thank you to everyone for their patience. This should greatly improve performance of the game. Remember, this is a constant cycle...we are constantly coding new features, improved features and more thorough logs. All of these things create lag that we then need to figure out how to reduce.
  • Removed a lot of code pertaining to ZCOs (which are no longer used) from various pages which moved a major lag source.
  • You may not destroy buildings if you are 20% or more off of your peak. This is to prevent people from being sabotaged by login hijacks as well as to prevent people from self-surrendering.
  • Added a button to the Parts pages to make the 'Zones with Parts' section optional. This is a source of major lag, especially in empires with many parts.
  • Fixed some bugs with the unit data readout and double-click-to-attack problems from yesterdays performance improvements.

    1/5/05

  • As the new year begins we're going to focus on many aspects of the game that have been suffering lately, starting with performance. Neveron has gotten very laggy lately and we hope to improve that substantially in January.
  • Fixed some severe lag sources in the ABR programs.
  • Made a significant change to the person bar in battle, removing pilot information and only showing unit intormation. This helps performance tremendously in battle.

    1/4/05
