  • Much thanks to Shadowmaster for his updates and what not these past couple months.
  • Donation Subscriptions: Active subscriptions from this month have been processed. I realize that there are many that are behind. Make sure you have ONE and only ONE recent ticket open about your subscription with "DP" in the subject and I will get to it as soon as I can (this week).
  • Kicked the training program back into action after an error and you should see all the results from any battles/training you've had or done.
  • Arena sim reported as down but appears to be working ok to me. Please report further problems.
  • Fixed a long standing but overlooked error with heat sinks being partially repaired.

    5/11/2009

  • Factory production runs that were still producing infantry weapons have been cancelled and the empires compensated.
  • Fixed a bug that was sometimes improperly giving a message about TP being awarded in the FFA when it in fact was not.
  • Fixed a visual bug that made it appear that income from selling mechs was being charged 20% by NASI instead of 10%. This was a visual bug only and all monies were properly paid this whole time.
  • Unit Cap and Rumors: I am stalling the unit cap for the time being. I am also reading several references to a 2,000 unit limit that we are shooting for. People are very insistant that this is "what they have been told" but I'm not clear who told them this or where or when it was done. Any reference on the forums, in help tickets or in the updates that I have EVER made stated very clearly that the final cap would be assessed based on what was going on in the game when the time came, but that it would certainly be at MOST 10,000. If it is not printed here in the updates or stated by me on the forums then it is just a rumor and you should not take it as more than that. Additionally, we are not going to take the time to debunk every myth and rumor that gets tossed around. If you don't read it here then it isn't official.
  • Please note that if you have an empire login transfer in process then you will not see the Empire Merger info on the Login sections of the Empire page.

    12/31/2006

  • Fixed a problem with vehicle drop platforms multiplying in number.
  • New Year's Day Event: On New Year's Day, beginning at 12 am (midnight) Arizona time we will begin an all-Rhino Free For All. The FFA will be changed to only give Stone Rhinos to all empire that enter. Additionally, $10 billion will be entered into the pot in chunks throughout the day.
  • Fixed an error with swapping crews while units are in training.
  • Crew swapping is now only allowed if the driver has a lower vweapons skill than the gunner.
  • Merger Requests: Mergers may now be requested via the Logins section of the Empire page by the primary login. Dp cost for mergers are also now based on the level of the individual empire being added to the target empire ranging from 10 - 500 Dp per empire.

    12/30/2006

  • Donation Subscriptions: A few subscriptions have not been processed over the past couple weeks due to a bug and the holiday. This is being worked on and more info should be posted tomorrow. Thanks for your support and patience.
  • Merger Requests: There are a number of merger requests that have been pending for some time. They have mostly been put off in favor of fixing bugs. A new merger system is being hardcoded that will allow for them to be submitted and processed with much less effort. There will also be slightly new criteria. All merger request tickets are being closed. Please stay tuned for details.

  • Thanks to Adam at Commspeed for handling our domain controller. The past couple weeks have seen frequent power outtages at our ISP resulting in a couple computers that are on an aging battery backup being restarted. We are currently working on replacing the battery backup so that this won't happen anymore. All programs have been rebooted and the game should be running normally.

    12/22/2006

  • Corrected the destroyed units/enemies pages to show a Nevyear worth of info instead of a real year as they had been improperly set to. No doubt this was making them hard to view and causing lag.
  • The FFA now properly awards Treasure Points. Additionally, all levels of empires are eligible to get Treasure Points.
  • Infantry have been effectively removed. Active units are currently being decommissioned and will probably take an hour or two to finish being removed. Weapons in transit, in the armoury and on the market have been deleted and cash awarded to the empires that owned them. Additionally, all empires that are not in the Noob Faction and have not yet researched Level 1 repair bays were granted the technology to build them.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed faction leaders to be usurped during a faction war making it possible to avoid faction war loss by changing faction leaders.
  • Recycling runs have been disabled for debugging likely until after the New Year.
  • Empires may no longer DOW other empires in their faction (Noob faction excluded).
  • The research problems should be cleared up.
  • The unit cap has been dropped to 10,000 units.
  • Fixed a rare bug when trying to attack someone who had raided a lot in the past month.
  • Faction War Declaration: You may no longer initiate a faction war if you have less than 5 members in your faction. You may reciprocate an FDOW, but you may not declare first.
  • Vehicle Drop Platforms: There was a bug that added extra drop platforms to the existing stockpiles in people's empires. The bug has been fixed, all money spent on drop platforms has been returned and any drop platforms stockpiled were destroyed. Simply purchase new drop platforms off the market and everything should work normally. Thanks to the empire Quest for pointing out the problem.
  • Updated the SOI update program that does a large check on empires after a war is over to help update most zones to the proper controlling empire. The program is much more efficient now, it had been suffering from chronic deadlocks. There is a 1 month backlog that it is working through and should be caught up in the next day or two.

    12/18/2006

  • Fixed a rare error with FDOW's.
  • Downtime: Neveron was hit again by some slowness and downtime this evening. This was due to a power outage at our ISP and it looks like one of our APS battery backups isnt working that well and needs to be replaced. We are taking donations!
  • Overhauled some aspects of the FFA. There is now a public message shown when someone is awarded a Treasure Point for a kill. The enemy list is also changed for all battles, taking up 2 rows of a table instead of just one. I think this allows for a better display of enemy unit information.

    12/15/2006

  • Empires in the Noob faction do not need a repair bay to add Vehicle Platform mods to their vehicles.
  • Treasure Points: TP have been reintroduced to the Free For All for empires level 0 - 3. When destroying a unit there is a chance that you will get a Treasure Point that can be used towards any research item you are currently working on. TP have also been reduced in power, so they count less towards research per point. People who had TP onhand were given more TP to make up the difference and the labor costs of producing TP in factories has been reduced accordingly.
  • Nukes: I have been intending to announce this for some time. I see no good reason why nukes should remain in the game. We have never added any real documentation for them and they add little and are seldom used and always against Gunner. As much as I enjoy nuking Gunner with may of the changes that have been implemented over the past year I see no reason why nukes should stay a part of the game. If WMD's are added they will be more integrated with current game systems.
  • Fixed a problem that was hanging up one of the tower creation programs and it is currently working through a backlog of towers.
  • There was a momentary issue with hot dropping mechs that I just fixed. Sorry for the hassle to those trying to drop.
  • Vehicle Drop Platforms and Infantry: As was previously discussed I am removing infantry for the time being. The main concern expressed regarding the removal of infantry was the ability to hotdrop without risking expensive mechs. As such 4 new technologies were added to the tech tree some weeks ago: Vehicle Drop Platform, HALO Assist 1, 2 and 3. Vehicle Drop Platforms have been fully coded and are available for purchase, sale and production. They allow you to modify any 20 ton or smaller vehicle so that it can be hot dropped from an LC. There is a small chance that the unit will be damaged or destroyed on the drop as with any hot drop.

HALO's will be implemented in early January and will allow mechs to drop with a reduced chance of being damaged or destroyed.

To make sure that Vehicle Drop Platforms are totally debugged I will be leaving infantry in place through the weekend and will remove them from the game completely on Monday.

Currently the Neveron infrastructure only allowed me to code it so that you can drop vehicles as lone units. A modified company of vehicles won't show on the Lance, Company or Battalion options but the units will show on the unit drop down list.

To modify a vehicle with a Vehicle Drop Platform click the unit in question and then click the "Add Mods" button in the upper right corner of the unit readout. Units must be in a zone with a repair bay to be modified and drop platforms are good for one drop only. They also become useless after 1 Nevyear of non-use.

  • The domain controller decided to turn itself off for no apparent reason earlier today and I had to drive out and restart it. This resulted in numerous programs not operating properly including zone conquering, quests and various updates. Everything should be running properly now. I am sorry for any inconveniance that this caused, but also pleased because this is the first partial downtime that we've had since mid-October.

    12/12/2006

  • After the tweaking the other day the training program is proving extremely stable. Typically it would have needed restarting a couple times and have reported several errors by now but it has failed not once nor reported any errors.
  • Fixed a visual error that was saying that you could not accept faction members because you were in a faction war when the real problem is that the applying empire is in a raid or war.

    12/8/2006

  • Fixed a bug that was not allowing empires with active quests to be logged into. Terribly sorry for this oversight.

    12/7/2006

  • After clarifying the rules we have found that mercs should not be able to be hired for FWAR contracts unless the faction leader has indeed declared FWAR. Seth is correcting existing contract issues and cancelling DOWs. The merc page has also been changed to not show FWAR contracts unless you are a faction leader currently at faction war.
  • Research facilities that are damaged in war may also become untooled from now on.
  • Fixed one, hopefully the last, bug that was preventing untooled research facilities to show on the Research page in certain instances.

    12/6/2006

  • Added some more performance enhancers to the training pages that should help the training program run more smoothly. Also cleaned up the training links and hid some of the results pages within other logical pages.
  • Fixed another issue with research facilities and you should be able to tool and view your facilities now.
  • Battle Changes: There is an expansionon the previous discussion about battle up at the forums. Please read, vote and comment HERE.

  • Art Needed: I need some simple graphics for our new map to represent city sizes. The ones I did were literally thrown together at midnight so that I could catch a plane. Simple circles will do but what would be more exciting would be new concept for the representation of friendly and enemy cities. 7 - 10 different sizes would be nice to represent varying city sizes. Both friendly and enemy colors needed. Email your submission or concept to NeveronContact@hotmail.com or post them on the Forums. Thanks!
  • Made some alterations to the training program which reduces exposure to the database and thus hopefully to reliability and overall game performance.
  • Normal unit training from the Training page has been updated to use the newer program. This has resulted in sginifcantly increased performance. Any gains from training are shown on the Training Results section of the Training page. If nothing shows then no skills were gained for those units. Also updated some queries during the group selection on the Training page to be much faster. This has allowed me to restore the Battalion training option which, while still not real fast, is usable. I am still working on the reliability of the Training program as deadlock seems to choke it up every few days resulting in several hours when training results are delayed.
  • Updated and restarted the unit status update to run every 5 minutes. It is a little laggy and so to run it even less often might be better. There is also the fundamental problem that mechs with upgrades that have affected their armor or internal structure to be less than normal will always show as damaged. This can likely be remedied by adding updates to the end of battles and repairs, but it will take some time to work out. In the meantime I would rather have people check their upgraded mechs than accidentally go into battle with no ammo.
  • The unit cap was dropped to 11,500 today. An extra 500 was added because the cap was not lowered in mid-Novemeber as it should have been.
  • Fixed the bug that was untooling TC's in some empires. Also sped up the research page.
